Supporting Small Businesses During & After Lockdown

Lockdown - April 2020

These are strange times for sure! Just a few weeks ago we were looking forward to holidays, planning for our busy Back to School season, and getting excited about some new developments we had been planning within the business. Right now, with all the uncertainty that surrounds this global pandemic, it feels like life is on hold and as a small, family business, we simply cannot predict where we will be this time next year. We don’t know how this will affect our business in the future, or whether all the hard work we have put in over the years will have been for nothing at the end of this. What we do know, however, is that we are indeed all in this together and that remaining positive and supporting each other is key to come through this little ‘blip’. In the meantime, here are some ways we can support small businesses during and after this craziness:

  1. Share details of the business with your friends and family - you never know when they might need their services. If you’ve had a good experience with them in the past, spread the word by giving them a positive Google Review, or maybe even drop them an email…small businesses take feedback seriously and a few nice words will go an awful long way, especially now. Follow and share their Social Media pages too. This is also a great way of keeping up to date with their services, latest news and offers.

  2. Help keep small businesses visible across Social Media by actively ‘liking’ and commenting on their posts. Business pages on Social Media platforms don’t have it easy so need your help to keep their posts visible on news feeds.

  3. Share their Social Media posts and content. You might not be in the market for buying their latest product, but you might have someone on your friends list who is. It only takes a second to share and that can always be your good deed for the day.

  4. The obvious way to support small businesses is to buy from them. This may take a little creative thinking and investigation, but there’s always something worth buying at some point, even if it’s a tiny purchase. And if you don’t have the patience for thinking outside the box, there’s always the Gift Voucher Option.
